Tali maia o ‘oe lo’u au
Sei fa’amalu ai lo’u mafaufau
Fa’amalu ai fo’i lou tu’inanau
Ma lo’u tauanau

Sa fai ‘oe ma a’u uo
O ananafi fo’i ma le aso
Nai ou uiga fa’amaualalo
‘E le fa’agalo

{ CHORUS }

Afai ‘e te le fiafia
Alofa ma taumafai
afai fo’i e leai
Pele ‘ea se’i tali mai

Ua ave pea oe ‘i lou agaga
O ‘oe fuga fai ma a’u agasala
Pe o se avega ‘ua mamafa
‘I lo’u nei olaga

Answer me oh my love
Just what sin have I been guilty of
Tell me how I came to lose your love
Please answer me… my love
You were mine yesterday
I believe that love was here to stay
Won’t you tell me where I’ve gone astray
Please answer me… my love

Ua ave pea oe i lo’u agaga
‘O ‘oe fuga fai ma a’u agasala
Pe o se avega ‘ua mamafa
I lo’u nei olaga

Pe o se avega ua mamafa
I lo’u nei olaga

Hi all but trying to find out who composed the song Tali Maia.

Tali Maia is a translation from an English love song which, in itself, was translated from a German pop song.  The original English version was Answer Me, Lord Above.  It evolved to Answer Me, My Love especially when American singers like Nat King Cole popularised it.

Personally, I prefer the Answer Me, Lord Above lyrics.  There are nuances there that made for a lover questioning the Almighty on why he has lost his love a rather pertinent question.  Asking one's love why they have lost their love, after admitting that they did something wrong to deserve the loss, is a circular fallacy in logic.

I regret I do not know the Samoan lyrics but I hope they followed the original.
I'm excited by all the possibilities the internet brings in the times we are living in
