DYWA looking for local artist to produce official office logo

The Department of Youth and Women’s Affairs (DYWA) is inviting all local artists and members of the general public, especially youth and women, to participate in designing the department’s official logo.

Great prizes are available for the winners. The first place winner will receive $100 cash.

The second and third place winners will each take home a Slimline two-burner gas cooker, donated by Origin Energy.

Judging will be carried out by an artist representing the local community and two DYWA staff members.

The competition is open to all members of the public, and entries must be submitted by Friday, February 13, 2009 to the DYWA office on the second floor of the AP Lutali Executive Office Building in Utulei no later than 4 p.m.

The logo can be drawn out using any color, and must be done on an 8x11 paper with the description of the artwork on the back. The words “Department of Youth and Women’s Affairs” or “DYWA” must be incorporated into the logo design, and the logo must depict the department’s overall mission to improve the quality of life and empower the youth and women of the territory through nurturance, education, training, and development information.

The announcement of winners will be published in the newspaper the following week on Friday, February 20, 2009.
