Samoan word of the Day: Nov. 18:
E valavala a tumanu - The fruits of young bunch of bananas are not well ordered like those of the mature bunch.

La'auli and Fuaoleto'elau

Fuaoleto'elau went to court Lady Gauifaleai, the daughter of Tuisamoa, in Falealili.
La'auli also went to Falealili to snare sea birds in the bush.
While he was engaged in this sport a brook, Lady Gauifaleai came into the forest with her maids and said to him, "why are you sitting there, your hair all shaggy?"

La'auli replied, "E valavala a tumanu - The fruits of young bunch of bananas are not well ordered like those of the mature bunch!"

She said again, "my friend, you are so very dirty."
La'auli Replied, "E lafulafu a tama seu gogo - It's the dirt of a youth catching sea birds!"
