Faga'alu team christens new boat
« on: March 17, 2010, 03:10:38 PM »
Rowing is a favorite sport in Samoa and many villages have teams to compete in the Flag Day competitions.

Crew members of Faga’alu’s Fetu o le Afiafi fautasi row out to sea after the boat was christened March 15, 2010. Captain of the Fetu is Teiutafeau Mitch Shimasaki. Villagers crowded Faga’alu Park for the christening ceremony yesterday.

Rev. Lalomauga Pa’au, leader of the EFKAS Fagaalu blessed the boat and crew with words of prayer. Among the gathering were Sen. Amituana’i Eteuati and son Rep. Vailoata Amituana’i.

The Fetu is the former Fa’asaulala that was owned by Vailoa village. It will race in the 2010 Flag Day tuuga va’a next month.
